Is Mulch Right For You?

By combining the experience of a seasoned nonprofit marketing professional with a contract structure that scales to the needs of your organization, Mulch provides just the right amount of hands-on support, just when you need it.

Let’s work together to build long-lasting improvements in marketing and communications for your organization that will bring in more donors, volunteers, and public support.

What Mulch does best

Developing custom marketing strategy: every organization is unique, and your organization should have marketing strategies that best reflect its specific strengths.

Supporting great programming: many small nonprofits have found innovative solutions to tough problems. Not all are able to find enough support to sustain them. Mulch can help.

Doing the work: marketing strategy is a waste of time and money if it never gets implemented. Mulch focuses on meaningful and long-lasting results.

Some situations Mulch is best suited to assist with include

  • Your organization has a strategic plan and needs someone to put in the time to carry it out.

  • You know that your organization needs to grow its base of donors, but you’re not sure where to start.

  • Your organization has had some success with fundraising, but has hit a plateau.

  • You’ve received a grant to expand your programming or services to the community, and you want to be ready to sustain that growth once the grant funding ends.

What Mulch won’t do

Individual Solicitations: Donors give to organizations they feel personally connected to. It’s important that those who represent the organization when asking for donations have a genuine connection to the organization, like key volunteers, staff, or dedicated gift officers, not a contract marketing consultant. However, I can help you identify likely donors, assemble compelling materials highlighting your organization’s impact, and prepare for solicitation meetings.

Grant Writing: Grants can be an important part of an organization’s revenue mix, but they should never be the sole source of income. If you are only looking for a grant writer, Mulch is not going to be a good fit. However, depending on your goals, we may decide that seeking a specific grant is a good fit, and I will help you prepare materials to present your organization to grantors.
